Finally, my first proper winter trail run

Muirsheil run: a 7 mile foot bath

Was up early this morning for a run in Muirsheil Country park with my off-road running pals. We’ve got into the habit of training on the trails in winter so that we’re ready for action (Mighty Deerstalker anyone?) come the spring. JIm and James have been going to running clubs for a fair bit this year & I’m not as fit, or as young as both of them, so I found today’s session pretty brutal. Straight up Windy Hill from the car park, back down, across some moorland and then onto the Heritage track. We ran out as far as a ruined shed (hen house) and then turned back. Lots of ups and downs, very very boggy, and we even broke of the path to do a couple of hill sprints. I nearly gave up a few times – maybe next time I won’t start off by using Windy hill as our warm up.

Just over 7 miles in total. A proper calf-buster with a bit of thigh-burning for good measure!
